I am posting this here as the query comes via a LinkedIn post by the Peak District Mining Museum. In Professor Howie's collection which they possess, there is quite an attractive specimen of lithostrotion (a fossil coral) with purple fluorite and it supposedly comes from the Hancock Shaft at Waterfall Mine.
Assuming that this is in the Peak District, does anyone know where? Its not on here, Mindat or the Durham Mining Museum list of mines, I don't know of a way of searching the BGS boreholes for the shaft name and Googling draws a blank. My guess is that its a typo for Watersaw, but not knowing the mine intimately, I don't know if there is a Hancock shaft there.
