It's that time of year again! Gas Detectors

Hey peeps,

It is getting to be that time of year again, where the air is cooling down,

Which means the CO2 could be pooling into some mines and underground locations.

What type of gas detectors are there that can be used for exploring mines safely in winter?
What do you use?

Honeywell make quite a lot of stuff including valves and a variety of electronic parts. Their BW gas detectors have been around for at least 25 years now. They have also taken over some other manufacturers like Rae Systems.

Iv got the altair 4x but the need to calibrate twice yearly is a pain. is there any way round this, to "say" extend to yearly?
Appreciate its not something to scrimp on but I prob only use it 3 or 4 times a year so essentially you are paying £50 a time to go in a mine!

I hear they are good gas sensors etc

Other night o2 was 19.1% co2 was - steady 3.7%.

After a couple hours this does start getting in your head though … throwing a 4lb lump
Hammer makes you breath heavy after 20 swings onto the chisel .
