@vicarage , It is being recorded. If you've registered and can't access the live stream or be there then I'm pretty sure you should get a link to the recordings sent out to you later. Would you like me to double check that for you?

@vicarage, I had a quick search in google & it's given this for using teams on linux - apologies, it's googles AI response so i don't know if/how accurate it is... or if it helps in any way!

Microsoft has discontinued the official Teams desktop app for Linux
, so users must now use the Progressive Web App (PWA) via a browser like Chrome or Edge for a full-featured experience with notifications and app-like features, or rely on excellent unofficial wrappers like the one on GitHub (teamsforlinux.de) which offers native packages (deb, rpm, snap, Flatpak) for a desktop feel.
This video explains how to install and use the unofficial Microsoft Teams desktop client on Linux:

Recommended Methods for Linux Users

1. Progressive Web App (PWA) - Official & Feature-Rich
  • How: Use Microsoft Edge or Chrome on Linux.
  • Features: Provides a desktop-like experience, notifications, dock icon, and supports advanced meeting features like custom backgrounds and Together Mode.
  • Access: Visit teams.microsoft.com in your supported browser and install the PWA from the browser's menu.

2. Unofficial Linux Client (teamsforlinux.de) - Native App Feel
  • How: A community-maintained wrapper that packages the web app as a native desktop client.
  • Features: Offers .deb, .rpm, Snap, and Flatpak installers, supporting most Teams features.
  • Access: Download from teamsforlinux.de or their GitHub page.
This video demonstrates how to install the unofficial Microsoft Teams client on Ubuntu using the command line:

Key Takeaway
The native Teams app is gone, but the PWA offers the best official experience, while teamsforlinux.de provides a robust, community-built native client for those preferring a traditional app.

On Linux browsers you can log in to a session, and it shows you everything except the presentation. I tried with my Windows laptop, and remembered how much I despise Microsoft. Watching last years one instead, which is excellent. I expect they will release a recording of this year's too in time, so no action needed.

I can sympathise in not liking MS... every time i have to step in and rescue my wife's work laptop from some MS disaster I'm reminded why I hated MS so much when i worked in the industry. When the link to this years forum is released, I'll update this thread for you. In the meantime enjoy last years talks
