We have released Pit & Putt, a brand new mine location guessing game. Some of you may have seen this demonstrated at NAMHO last week.

The game is simple. You get shown a photo from a mine or quarry in the UK, and you have to determine where it is.
You do this by pressing on the map to place/move a pin, then hitting the Guess button to make your guess. If your guess was within 1km of the location, then you win. Otherwise, a donut-shaped hint marker will appear; The mine is guaranteed to be within the shaded area. You can guess as many times as you like, using the previous hints to hone in on the mine until you win.
Remember, the mine can only be within the intersecting area of ALL of the donuts.

There are two ways to play Pit & Putt:

There are two ways to play Pit & Putt:
- Free Play allows you to play as many games as you like
- Daily Game has you finding the location of the exact same photo as everyone else on that given day. When you win this game, your guess count is added to the daily scoreboard, visible in the forum sidebar or by clicking the Scoreboard button in Pit & Putt itself. The photo will change every night at midnight GMT, giving you another opportunity to earn your place on the scoreboard for that day.

Some gameplay tips:
- Even if you have no idea what the mine in the photo is, absolutely everything in the photo can be a useful clue. Maybe the rocks or vegetation can only be found in certain parts of the UK, or perhaps you can see a river, railway, lake, or the sea. Comparing what you see with what's on the map can only help you.
- A strong first guess often sets the pace of the rest of the game
- The guess history panel is not just for show. You can declutter the map by hiding individual donuts using the checkboxes, or press the rows themselves to centre the map on that hint.
- The map has a fullscreen button, which can be quite useful if you're searching for specific geographic features
