Somewhere on my system is a lengthy post by Sougher which I copied and pasted into a Word document. Its finding it. I believe that there are others. I have nearly 34 Gigs of stuff saved under the title "General Mining". This is downloaded documents (mainly from AN) and stuff obtained from the late Simon Hughes plus some old photos. All the photos that I have taken, and they are not bad quality, is in a separate folder "Mining Photographs".Deeply saddened to hear that the AN backend is now lost, like ME before it. Losing the forum posts from people like Sougher and Twitch who are no longer with us is a blow, and I'm not sure I still have a copy of the trip report I posted after the infamous Middleton Mine trip with Brakeman...
That's a conspiracy by historians to try to guarantee their jobsTimes change, things change, and ................people change
That would be brilliant, to have the old ME data too. Miles said he was safely storing it pending updating his software but running GB has taken all of his spare time to do the work.I believe miles still has this data and will be sending it over to us .
Chris jc has been speaking with him regarding this .
It's certainly sad news, it was a fantastic resource, I used to take part in the photo competition and still have my prize (2nd I think it was) photo on display. I used to buy the calendars every year and I even managed to attend a few AN organised underground trips. Sadly I never managed to get to the Christmas dinner. Not to mention many visits to sites that I wouldn't have been aware of were it not for the ability to search on AN. A great deal of thanks are definitely due to Simon for all his work.
Time to move forward though and this Forum definitely seems on the right track!
Yup, I managed a few trips, used to enjoy the Victorian miners trips - dressed in Victorian miner's outfits and candles for light. Big pots of cawl and stewed tea in yr caban. Got most of the AN calendars and enjoyed the Christmas dinners. There's still a few Thursday Nighters around doing things (the core crew of AN. Hope to get out with them again this year. It's certainly sad news, it was a fantastic resource, I used to take part in the photo competition and still have my prize (2nd I think it was) photo on display. Robin, have you got Graham Isherwood's epic tome and diagrams about Oakeley from the old AN site? If not and if Graham is agreeable, I downloaded it to my PC to study shortly before AN died so could send the files over.@AR. Yes, agree re copyright. I think we'll have to have a copyright declaration when we implement a document upload page. And any bulk documents that come our way, we'll have to contact the copyright owner for agreement to host unless there is a licensing statement permitting sharing.

I believe this collection is only “none registered user” anything you had to be a “registered user or higher “ we don’t have ,Hi Clive,
I beleive Roy has archived the AN documents. We've still to review these (for copyright etc.) as the database project is taking all the spare time at the moment. It wouldn't do any harm to get a copy in any case, so I've PMed you my email address.
Thanks,
Robin

To the best of my knowledge.
Hello Peter, thanks for your kind offer of help. I have submitted a funding request to Roger, however at this point in time it is advised as provisional as we dont have complete costings. I am therfore looking at agreement in principle.NAMHO awaits a call to help us understand how we can support BP, with time and money etc
