Update: AditNow

Hello Peter, thanks for your kind offer of help. I have submitted a funding request to Roger, however at this point in time it is advised as provisional as we dont have complete costings. I am therfore looking at agreement in principle.
Whats the date set for next Council and AGM, I did make a note last time, but.....
Roy

Saturday 16th March, morning, a virtual meeting. This is also the NAMHO AGM date.

I believe this collection is only “none registered user” anything you had to be a “registered user or higher “ we don’t have ,

To the best of my knowledge.
I think the registered/power user photo access is also an issue with the Way Back Machine as well. I can't recall which photos on AN I used them for but I suspect most of my Dad's photos might well have been in those catergories partly because they weren't mine, obviously as it were, and partly because some current user used them on their contributions if access etc was a concern when AN was operational .

As time allows and the site develops I'm happy to put up certainly my stuff from the Pike Law wanderings and bits from my Dad's 1960's to 90's stuff and if I can retrieve any of the contributors' commentaries I'll try and add them as well.

I understand via Don Borthwick that Brian Young et al have a paper on Pike Law and Coldberry in the Geologists' Association proceedings, suspect it will be fearsomely learned.

We will in the upcoming weeks/ months have our database going live for all the mines which we have the locations for . Photo uploads - historical image uploads & PDFs will be accepted .

Once this is up and running we will be adding mine locations onto this database , we will then be able to add files for these mines so they have there own photos & documents . Basically we will start rebuilding what has been lost .

This will all go into the hands of a trust which Roy will be a director of . Not one single person will “own” this database , also we are hoping to have namho appoint an appropriate person / multiple candidates.

I am very confident we will get lots of support in our task by everyone uploading !

Please feel free to fire any questions away regarding anything other than Simon , Roy has said all he knows .

We will re create a modern version of this which will be easier to manage , I believe a very important thing is making it user friendly , so others can manage it in the future . We don’t want something no one understands.
Excellent news, will be happy to contribute.

I'm not sure if this is of any interest but I have AditNow calendars for 2012 and 2016-2020 inclusive if anyone would like them. I have to downsize and they are heading towards the recycling pile...

If I can get permission, I'll see if I can get you access to a map I know that puts the one aditnow had to shame, but depends if the owner wants to make the info public. May be able to at least give access to some of it.

I think aditnow”s map was incredibly good . if such a map did exist which was so much better , I would be surprised if people hadn’t heard of it . Not much escapes the members on here !

I am talking about a map of the whole of the uk , not just 1 mining field .

This is only of the North Pennines and Lake District but has a lot more on there including coal field details with infrastructure details but I don't think the people that run it are that keen on sharing in public. I'll see if I can get at least some of it.
