Users editing their own posts?

I have had a report that a user could not edit their post after posting it. I did the edit for them.
But is that expected? i.e. should users be able to edit their posts?

Chris.

I think the forum software allows it for a limited time after posting to allow for typo corrections (which are needed when typing on a tablet keyboard!!). It then closes the edits. Bertybasset may be able to tweak the forum settings somewhere to allow a longer edit time ( or turn off the feature).

Correct. Default is 15 mins, which is reasonable if you remember something after clicking Post. If you increase it you run the risk of users changing the context of conversations if there have been replies. 30 min I'm sure would be fine though.

As @BertyBasset has said, it’s by design. This is covered in the forum FAQs and is there to avoid misuse of the forum. Typically this feature (when unrestricted) can be abused by forum trolls to edit their hostile posts to appear more civilised once the sparks fly. Whether we need to be concerned about this is another question though!
