Located to the west of Graig Fawr, area of multiple shafts, including the Talargoch Shaft, Smedleys Shaft, No. 1 Shaft, Engine Shaft, and Maesyrerwddu Shaft. Much of the original site has been cleared and is now occupied by modern industry. A shaft and an opencut can still be identified on the lower western slope of Graig Fawr, near the disused railway at SJ 0582 8019.
The Prestatyn-Dyserth Railway provided transport links for the mine, with sidings running directly into the dressing floor area. A small siding also served the 80“ Engine Shaft, facilitating the movement of materials and ore. Power for the dressing floor machinery was supplied by a 40ft x 3ft waterwheel, which was sustained by two reservoirs that utilized a leat system dating back to the 1750s. These water sources were essential for processing operations, ensuring a consistent supply for ore dressing.
A large expanse of waste dumps remains in the dense vegetation between the former mineral railway track and the small industrial estate at SJ 0575 8025. These are the remnants of reworked dressing floor waste. The processing facilities at the site included a 34“ roll crushing mill, a Blake’s Stone Breaker, and a 12ft diameter waterwheel used for dressing slimes.
The Maesyrerwddu Company, which absorbed the Coetia Llys Company, operated between 1855 and 1877 before being taken over by the Talargoch Company. Ore dressing was conducted in open-sided sheds, as documented by Thorburn in 1986.
Adit levels on the hill slopes above suggest earlier 18th-century workings.
