Developed in the 1840s and 1850s, the mine saw various small-scale shallow workings established by short-lived companies such as Hemsworthy, Ilsington, Somerset, and Teignmouth mines. Reworking took place from 1851 to 1856 under the name Haytor Consols. The set included the Hemsworthy workings along with Bagtor Mine to the southeast and Crownley Parks Mine to the east. Mining operations focused on North Lode, Middle Lode, and South Lode from Old Engine Shaft, resulting in the production of 16 tons of black tin between 1853 and 1855. Today, the site is heavily overgrown.
