Originally a lead mine, it was reopened for fluorspar extraction by the Greaves brothers, who operated it intermittently until the late 1970s. Despite their efforts, the challenges posed by the squeezed-in shales made access difficult.

In the 1980s, there was another attempt to revive the mine by Dave Ridley, but ventilation issues led to its closure once again. The connection of the mine to Burtree Pasture Mine and the Sedling Veins adds another layer of historical significance, although it’s unfortunate that this area is now flooded.

The story of this mine reflects the challenges and uncertainties often associated with mining operations, as well as the resilience and determination of those involved in the industry.#
