According to Hamilton Jenkin’s notes from 1961, West Poldice Mine, also known as Wheal Merth due to the near-indistinguishable nature of the setts, was reopened in 1849 under the name East Wheal Margaret. It remained operational until 1865, with a documented production of 725 tons of black tin.
