This mine operated on three lodes that trended east-northeast on the north slopes of the valley south of Newbridge. The Main Lode was exploited from a series of shafts situated north of the road from Hugus to Newbridge, although these are now largely obscured. South of the Main Lode, the Lead Lode was worked from shafts located south of the railway line, with remaining dumps and ruins of an engine house found in dense woodland. The Ready Money Lode, situated north of the Main Lode, was operated from a single shaft in the eastern part of the mining area. Between 1861 and 1875, the mine extracted 70 tons of black tin, 370 tons of arsenic, and 370 tons of iron ore from the gossan. It’s noted that the gossan may have also contained silver ore and possibly gold.
