Exploited an iron ore deposit running east-west within metamorphosed killas just south of Roche. Wheal Click operated in the western portion of the area, while Tower Consols occupied the eastern part. Referred to as ‘The Magnetic Iron Mine’, the deposit’s exact nature, whether a lode or an ore bed, remains uncertain. The ores primarily consisted of magnetite with minor amounts of hematite and limonite, with some occurrences of chalcopyrite as noted by Collins in 1878. Operations commenced in 1843 and ceased in 1874. Production records are scarce, with Dines suggesting that output figures might have been combined with neighboring mines like Coldvreath. Tower Consols recorded production of 200 tons of ore in 1873, and there’s additional mention of 200 tons produced in 1873-1874 in records cited by Beer in 1994.
