In 1845, a copper trial was initiated on the banks of a streamlet west of Willestrew. Unfortunately, the endeavor was short-lived, as it was abandoned in 1847. Today, the site is mostly concealed by vegetation, with the grid reference marking the approximate location.
The mine exploited two east-west-trending lodes, accessed from a shaft sunk on one lode and a crosscut adit intersecting the other lode, connecting to the shaft at a depth of 6 fathoms below the surface. By the time of abandonment, the workings had reached a depth of 30 fathoms. Despite these efforts, there are no recorded outputs from this venture.
