Later part of Carn Brea Mines. Wheal Druid was a small mine established around 1800 initially focused on copper extraction. In 1831, it merged with Carn Brea Mine, alongside Barncoose Mine and Wheal Fanny. The Druid section ceased operations in 1914 due to irregular values at depth and poor recovery. The mine included two lodes: Druid’s North Lode, carrying copper ores, and Druid’s South Lode, carrying both copper and tin ores. These lodes extended from granite to metamorphosed killas. Druid’s South Lode was accessed via several shafts, including New Shaft, Monument Shaft, Druid’s Engine Shaft, and Macdonald’s Shaft. The mine produced 176 tons of copper ore in 1816 and 1817, with later production figures incorporated into Carn Brea Mine’s output.
