The mine workings are situated on the limestone ridge, in an area of rough pasture. Early mining activity is evident in the form of linear open-cuts and small trial shafts scattered across the ridge. Additionally, extensive quarrying has taken place, further altering the landscape.

On the sandstone flats surrounding Bryngwyn Farm (SJ 2180 6140), shafts are located to the east and west of the road leading south from Gwernymynydd. The farm buildings were reputedly used as the mine offices, indicating the site’s historical significance. This mining area is also referenced as the Fron-Ucha sett, highlighting its connection to broader mineral extraction activities in the region.
