Concrete capped shaft with steel grate fitted by DCA 2022.

From board member SRJ after Winter 2022 visit, “Beautiful stone ginging down shaft, which has been used as a rubbish tip at some point historically.
At base is a particularly precarious timber holding up the roof. It doesn’t look likely to fail imminently, but consequences would be serious if it did - care!
Level leading along the vein to another internal shaft.
At this point I started to feel a bit dodgy (suspected bad air), so made a retreat.”

Derbyshire Key.
