Shafts remain near Berthen Farm and within Berthen Covert. To the west, in the fields opposite Pentre Farm, two shafts can be identified at SJ 1680 7170, along with another at SJ 1690 7170, likely connected to the Tyddyn Shepherd Mine. Further north, across the road from Berthen Farm, shaft mounds are visible in the fields below Plas Captain.
The Old Pantynef Vein extended southward as far as Berthen Farm, as noted by Smith in 1921. It was part of historic mining activity in the area, with several shafts still visible today.
