Bick makes the obervation that there is more ironwork to be seen on the surface of this mine than at any other Mid Wales mine.

17C Worked by Sir Hugh Myddleton, and then by Thomas Bushell,
c1730s - 1744 Worked by William Waller and the Mine Aventurers.
c1756 Possesion to Lewis Morris who describes three east-west lodes.
c 1760? Idle.
1850 Mine revived by Matthew Francis.
1852 Whilst mine not making profit, Francis moved management to London.
1856 40’ iron water wheel bough from Oola mine for £100.
1859 Crusher relocated at adit driven into No 2 shaft. Good ore reported by Capt Michael Barbery in 17 fm level where a rise had been driven up from deep adit.
1862 New company takes over.
1869 Dividends of 30% being paid with J.B. Balcome as managing director.
1871 Under management of Thomas Kemp, steam engines installed at No3 and 4 shafts. Hodgson’s Patent Tramway installed, a waterwheel providing power.
c1872 Kemp replaced by John Davis at a time when metal prices were falling.
1873 No ore returns.
1874 Most of blame laid on Kemp, including a rise to meet No3 shaft emerging in a level above. Also excessively large stopes necessitaing a large arch to stop the mine running in.
1875 Balcome who must have shared some culpability removed from the board.
1877 New Bron Floyd company formed with £30,000 capital, although Balcombe caused problems and litigation.
1879 Low prices lead to temporary closure.
1892 Final closure.
