Solid galena, over 1m wide found by local miners. Sampson Trevethan Jnr described it as ‘of such magnitude and riches that the Van mine would blush to be brought near it for splendour.’ A suit for ownership dragged on until 1875.

Worked by Mynydd Gorddu Lead Mining Company, working by adit and shaft.

Shaft down to 20fm, adit intersecting at 10fm. Captain Richard Rowse in charge. 40ft pumping wheel commenced.

Rowse replaced by James Green of the Aberystwyth Foundry.

34 fm level started.
1881
Takeover by a new company, with Thomas Kemp as manager.
1882
46fm level turns out to be poor in ore, company overwhelmed by debts.
