Underground* Workings on three levels. Most of the accessible passage is on the middle level, which is accessed via a set of steps. This gives access to a number of chambers of various sizes. The level below is mainly flooded.

Upper Site: Several buildings survive, including a fine drum house . Traces are also visible of the wheel pit, the exit incline, the old water balance route, a later gravity incline, and a cut-and-cover tunnel.

Lower Site: This area has been largely cleared.

Hillside quarry, opening around 1770, and was significantly redeveloped in the 1870s. Underground working commenced around 1890. The operation included a water-powered mill connected by an incline to the Glyn Valley Tramway for transport. Material was raised using steam haulage, while rubbish was lifted using a water balance system.

Later developments included a lower-level adit and mill. Following the Cambrian amalgamation, a Pelton wheel was installed, which drove a generator and compressor. The quarry reached its peak output in the early 1900s, producing approximately 2,000 tons annually with a workforce of 70 men. It closed in 1905, but was briefly reopened in 1910 and 1923, using oil engines to power the mill and compressor. The site saw its final closure in 1928. The quarry was subsequently used for military storage during WWII, served as a public water source until 1952, and operated as a visitor centre from the 1970s to the 1990s.

Accessed via a footpath track curving round from the village. There is an obvious old quarry on the right before reaching the old ‘show cave’ buildings. The footpath continues to the right. The showcave entrance lies along an overgrown path to the right. Two open chambers have fencing across them, with the chamber on the left having a locked gate.

Permission is not granted, although discreet access seems to be tolerated.
