This is now used as the fan drift for Ayle Colliery. There is remains of an older fan on site.

1926-1940 Ayle Colliery Co. Ltd

This is the original drift opened by Stanley Shepard in 1926. Coal was taking over the burn on a bridge to the mine yard. Production ceased in 1982.
