Located on the crest of Littledean Hill, northeast of Cinderford, this shaft was sunk in 1849 and operated in conjunction with the Shakemantle and Buckshraft Pits as part of a single mining enterprise. The site was notable for producing a substantial quantity of red ochre, valued for its pigment. It remained dry to a depth of 555 feet and was capped in 1972.
