Possible connection between this shaft and both the Westbury Brook Iron Mine and the Trow Ditch Drainage Adit, depending on the level of the water table. The shaft was sunk at an angle of around 70 degrees, following the natural dip of the rock, and can still be followed—though with some difficulty—down to the water table at a depth of 320 feet. Before attempting a through trip, it is essential to check whether the Trow Ditch Drainage Adit remains open.
