1840s | Worked for a period by Matthew Francis following the discovery of rich ore at the surface. |
1849 | Worked again by Francis together with Court Grange Company. Pumping and crushing by waterwheel with water taken from Taylors’ Horridge leat, leading to conflict with the Taylors. |
1851 | Mine down to 20fm. |
c1854 | Production ceases. |
1868 | The Taylors raise £10,000 to examine the lode at depth. Name changed to Vaughan. Deep adit started from near Llechwedd Helyg, several tons of manganes ore discovered in the process. |
1877 | Deep adit breaks through into mine 55fm below shallow adit, 67fm below surface. The ore not cosidered good at depth, no further sinking done, and pumps now become redundant. Stoping done at intersection of North, Middle and South llodes between shallow and deep adits. |
1881 | Mine closes. |
1910-1 | Some ore returned. |
Total production: 581 tons lead, 282 tons of blende - much returned during the Court Grange days.
