Shafts and spoil mounds remain to the east of Smithy Gate, though the site is now bisected by the new A55 trunk road, making some areas of the former workings difficult to access.

The Pantyrhes, as recorded in the 19th-century returns (Burt 1992), refers to the Pant-y-rhedyn Mine, which was situated to the east of the Smithy Gate Cottages (SJ 1760 7520). The sett worked the Coetia Ball, Clwyt Militia, and Beiligwyn Veins, in close proximity to the Coetia Mawr sett.
