Originally a china clay pit, this mine transitioned to the extraction of iron ores upon the discovery of three northeast-trending iron lodes during pit excavation. The site is currently submerged beneath the dumps of Wheal Remfry. During the years 1880-1881, the mine yielded a total of 1,648 tons of iron ores.
