This mine operated across the area between the County Crosscourse in the west and the Great Western Railway in the east, spanning parts of Chacewater, Redruth, and St Agnes parishes. It encompassed the Wheal Hawke and Wheal Rose sections, located to the west and east of a small stream flowing northwestward through the property, near the road leading to Mawla. While the Wheal Rose section is now covered by development, including a golf course, the westernmost part of the mine has disappeared under similar development. In the Great North Downs section to the west, seven lodes were identified, including Main lode, Vivian’s lode, Tenpenny lode, Pendarves North lode, Spelter lode, Pendarves South lode, and Peevor lode. The Main lode extended across the entire length of the sett, from County Crosscourse to Wheal Rose section. Shaft arrangements ran parallel to the present A30 road. From 1862 to 1897, the mine yielded 9,110 tons of 7% copper ore, 14 tons of black tin, and 373 tons of arsenopyrite. Additionally, Wheal Rose section produced 12,820 tons of 6.5% copper ore and 18 tons of black tin from 1826 to 1872. Minor amounts of tin and tungsten were extracted between 1912 and 1918, during collaborative operations with Wheal Peevor.
