In 1857-1858, an adit was excavated on the west bank of the River Dart, directly opposite the Queen of Dart Mine, with the intention of tapping into the presumed extension of the lode from the Queen of Dart Mine. In close proximity to the adit entrance, a shaft was sunk to a depth of 8.5 fathoms below ground level. Despite the ore prospects being deemed ‘far superior’ to those of the Queen of Dart Mine, no further action seems to have been taken at the site. Additionally, a proposed reworking of the mine set in 1859 did not materialize.
