Situated on ‘The Island’ near St Ives Head, which ceased operations around 1822, likely had been in operation even earlier. Its 7 fathom level extended 20 fathoms beneath the sea. St Ives Head is composed of greenstones containing several mineral veins, and evidence of historic mining activities can be seen along its northern shoreline.
