The site is underlain by black Carboniferous Limestone with chert beds. Evidence of the workings remains in the form of two identifiable shafts situated in an overgrown wasteland between the two parallel main roads running through Gorsedd Village, located at SJ 1505 7670. Shafts were Engine Shaft and Rose Hill Shaft.
The Gorsedd Vein, located to the north-west of the crossroads by the church at Gorsedd, was worked by several companies, including The Sinclair Lead and Blende Mining Co, The Dee Lead Mining Co, Celyn Bog, Gorsedd, and the Merllyn Group. Additionally, the Orsedd Mining Company reported activity in the area from 1851 to 1865.
