Small quarry.

Original workings lie in woodland below the main road, where the former processing area now includes buildings in agricultural use that may incorporate adapted quarry structures. The later, much larger working area above the road is heavily disturbed by bulk removal and other activities, though a nearby trial pit at grid reference SJ189471 is also recorded.

Roofing slate was being worked at Oernant by the 17th century, but the quarry only enjoyed a short-lived boost from the construction of the Oernant tramway, completed shortly before the site closed in the 1860s. Its demise was largely driven by competition, as higher-quality slate from other quarries in the region undercut its products and forced closure.
