Part of West Caradon sett. Old copper mine located in the southwestern part of the West Caradon sett. The mine worked two northeast-trending copper lodes: Marina’s Lode in the southeast and Prior’s Lode in the northwest.
Marina’s Lode was accessed via Marina’s Shaft and was developed with short drives along its strike to a depth of 66 fathoms. Prior’s Lode, which runs almost parallel to Marina’s Lode, was accessed from Rickard’s Shaft, located 200 yards northwest of Marina’s Shaft. Development on Prior’s Lode was primarily restricted to a level at the bottom of the shaft, extending 80 fathoms northeast along its strike. A crosscut driven north of this level connects to Menadue Lode of West Caradon Mine, located 50 fathoms west of Hallet’s Shaft. Another crosscut south of the level on Prior’s Lode meets an unnamed lode, with short drives in either direction.
Between 1881 and 1886, the mine produced 295 tons of copper ore with a grade of 6.5%. The grid reference marks the large dump at Marina’s Shaft, while Rickard’s Shaft is mentioned without completion.
