Part of Great Wheal Busy United. Copper mine situated east of the South Wheal Hawke and Wheal Rose sections of the Great North Downs Mine. The mine’s sett extends northwards along the eastern side of the Great Western railway and is adjacent to Eastdowns, Boscawen, and East Wheal Chance mines. The mine worked four lodes: North lode, South lode, Reed’s lode, and Oat’s lode. In 1943, during a tungsten prospecting phase in the area, a shaft was reopened and cleared to a depth of 140 ft below the surface, revealing a level following a copper lode. The lode contained various minerals but no wolframite. Hallenbeagle Mine operated from 1835 to 1846, producing 30,580 tons of 6% copper ore, along with some black tin and arsenopyrite.
