1891 part of New Balleswidden. This small tin mine, situated adjacent to New Balleswidden Mine to the north, began operations as Wheal Fortune in 1778 but was only sporadically active. It reopened in 1845 and again in 1861 under the name West Wheal Metal. In 1880, it was reopened as East Botallack Mine. In 1891, its sett was merged with New Balleswidden Mine, with no further development afterward. The mine may have also operated under the name Alexandra Mine. Its sett extended across both sides of the Penzance-St Just road (A3071), containing at least two southeast-trending lodes accessed by shafts on the north side of the road. While the area is now heavily overgrown, some shaft mounds remain recognizable. The only recorded output for this mine is 6 tons of black tin between 1881 and 1885.
