Part of a group of mines with overlapping working and histories known as the Wye Mines.

The workings at this site are situated along a branch vein of the primary northeast-southwest lode in Nant Y Gwrdy. The exposed vein in this area consists of a brecciated quartz gangue within the Silurian Frongoch Formation.

Much of the mine has been lost due to modern developments, particularly the activities of the Sweetlamb Rally School. The remaining features include two shafts, two levels, a dam and a possible reservoir.

Mining operations involved the sinking of four shafts and the excavation of an adit, with key locations identified at SN 8315 8506, SN 8298 8501, and SN 8286 8499. An early engine shaft was drained by an adit crosscut, with extensive stoping carried out above the adit. In 1879, a second shaft was added to expand operations.

In 1874-1875, a self-acting dressing plant was installed on the dressing floors at SN 8269 8510 to improve ore processing. However, this facility was later almost entirely destroyed due to land clearance for farm buildings and parking areas. Power for the mining operation was supplied by a reservoir on Nant Y Gwrdy, located at SN 8313 8521, which drove the dressing floors situated to the west.
