1832-1843 Part of Providence. The mine, likely of ancient origin, was referred to as the ‘United Mines’ in 1815, incorporating Wh Comfort, Wh Speed, Wh Hazard, East and West Wh Crack, and Wh Mary and Rose. By 1821, it was certainly in operation, evidenced by a tragic accident where a miner lost their life due to a collapsed dam, resulting in drowning. In 1832, it became part of the Providence Mines sett.
