The second to last working Colliery in North Staffordshire, only closing because Silverdale closed and stopped pumping water. Site contains numerous artefacts and building remains.
There is a narrow gauge railway on the site where the Mine offices and pit head baths are located
1941-1947, Holditch Mines Ltd, subsidiary of Shelton Iron, Steel and Coal Company Ltd (drifts 1 and 2, probably as a 1941 pair, 1 open until at least 1990, 2 open until at least 1984)
1947-1969, NCB (drifts 3 and 4, probably as a 1961 pair, both open until 1997)
1969-1971, still NCB but out of use before sale to next owner
1971-1976, Hampton Gold Mining Areas Ltd
1976-1991, Great Row Colliery Company (drifts 5 and 6, probably as a 1981 pair, 6 open until end, 5 open until end, 7 open in 1988 until the end)
1991-1994, Parklands Colliery Company
1994-1999, Aurora Mine Company (closed some drifts, leaving three drifts), last shift 04/09/1998
1999-present, site handed to Apedale heritage Centre
Site now a museum which hosts tours on weekends with extended tours on the first Saturday of every month. Remaining drifts on site are no. 3s,4s,7s.
