Penventon Adit is the drainage adit for South Wheal Basset, and historically was (is?) used for Redruth’s primary water supply.

As of 2024, the adit has collapsed and captured the surface stream, but some evidence of the adit still remain such as iron narrow gauge rails, and the collapsed adit entrance in the stream-bed.

From Dines:

A line of nine old shafts from 120 yds. E. by S. of Penventon extends 420 yds. N.; these are presumably air shafts on a drainage adit with portal about 200yds. N.N.E. of Engine Shaft. Water issuing from the adit, known as Penventon Adit, is used for Redruth water supply.
