Extensive dumps. 250fm deep adir. Incline, shaft other adits and opencuts.

Despite the deep adit, never linked underground to Henfwlch.



Year Activity
c1620 Two lodes exploited by Sir Hugh Myddleton under the name Caninog or Bwlch Caninog.
1702 William Waller and the Mine Adventurers take on the mine, several hundred tons of lead ore being raised.
c1800 Job Sheldon & Co reputadly made very good profit. Also at the east part of the sett, worked the same lode as Henfwlch
1850 Mining Company of Wales start deep adit driven under, and well beyond Hafan and under Henfwlch.
1853 Adit continued by Hafan and Henfwlch Co with Chairman James Stride, and MIchael Barbery managing operations. Davies Shaft sunk below shallow adit to meet a rise from deep adit. Pumping wheel and leat for sinking below deep adit built.
1854 With no improvement in Hafan or Henfwlch, company folds.
1856 Both mines working under a Captain Hughes.
1864 Another company takes possession. 4 men driving deep adit. Sheldon’s shaft repaired.
1867 By 1867 600 tons of lead ore sold - mainly from Henfwlch.
1889/90 Mines opened sporadically over previous years, 17 tons sold 89/90
