Opencast. Amalgamation: Mulberry Pit. large open-cast tin mining operation situated on Mulberry Hill, characterized by its significant depth of up to 100 feet and length of 700 feet. It’s noted that one can descend into the mine at the southeast end with caution. The ore within the mine is found in minute cracks, spaced less than a foot apart, and it yielded approximately 6 pounds of black tin per ton.

The milling operations were located in the valley approximately a quarter mile to the west of the mine. These milling operations included both a shallow adit, which is now blocked, and a deeper adit. The deep adit connected to a tramming level situated beneath the floor of the open-cast mine.

Between the years 1859 and 1916, the mine produced a total of 1350 tons of black tin.
