According to Hamilton Jenkin’s notes from 1961, West Poldice Mine, also known as Wheal Merth due to their virtually indistinguishable setts, was reopened in 1849 under the name East Wheal Margaret. Operating until 1865, the mine recorded an output of 725 tons of black tin.
