East end of Alfred. Amalgamation: Laity Hills. A significant copper mine, is situated less than 200 meters northwest of Great Wheal Alfred Mine near Copperhouse, close to Hayle in West Cornwall. It was formed by merging several smaller mines, including Wheal Alfred, East Wheal Alfred, North Wheal Alfred, and South Wheal Alfred. Production records from 1801 to 1964 indicate a total output of 175,000 tons of copper. Today, remnants of mine workings and visible dumps still exist.
