The mine entrance remains, which is a large brick arch now full of deep water. Just inside is the remains of a small furnace presumably used to ventilation.

Bixlade Upper level was sunk in 1826 to work the Coleford High delf seam. It also drained large amounts of water from the area to the east.

The colliery produced 21,000 tonnes per year which was taken away using the Bicslade tramroad.
