The mine reached depths of 559 and 666 feet and extended over 2 miles, stretching from almost to the Wigpool Mine in the north to the St Annal’s Shaft in the south. Additionally, an older pit located 140 yards NNE of the existing pit at an elevation of 520 feet was sunk to 340 feet and connected to the main workings by drives. Edgehill is a more recent name for the Westbury Brook Mine.
Opened in 1837 and closed in 1893, operating continuously for 56 years under the Dowlais Iron Company. It produced a substantial 958,000 tons of iron ore, all of which was transported to South Wales for processing.
Situated in the vicinity of Westbury Brook
