Quarried areas are obvious on the ground. Output went to the brickworks via an incline and the winding house for this remains, though in poor condition.



Quarries established during the 1800s. Disused by the end of the 1800s but brought back into use around 1900 and run by a German named Steibel. Charles Tidy took control in 1908 and output was increased to feed modern equipment and expansion at the brickworks.
Closed during WWI and didn’t re-open until 1924.
Finally shut completely in 1949 as the brickworks couldn’t compete economically due to relatively high transport costs.
