These mines operated on an east-west striking deposit of iron ore located in metamorphosed killas just south of Roche. Wheal Click encompassed the western section of the mining area, while Tower Consols occupied the eastern part. The venture was also referred to as ‘The Magnetic Iron Mine’ according to Cantrill et al. (1919). The exact nature of the deposit remains uncertain, whether it was a lode or an ore bed. The ores primarily consisted of magnetite with smaller amounts of hematite and limonite. Collins (1878) mentioned the presence of chalcopyrite in some areas. Mining activities began in 1843 and continued until 1874. Production records are scant, with Dines (1994) suggesting that output figures might have been combined with those of neighboring mines like Coldvreath. Tower Consols is documented to have produced 200 tons of ore in 1873, while Beer (1994, addenda to the reprint of Dines) mentions another record for the Magnetic Mine indicating 200 tons of ore production between 1873 and 1874.
