Located in the higher part of Rundale Beck, these mines were under the leases of the London Lead Companies and operated by the company for lead extraction from 1821 to 1873. Baryte production began in 1882 and lasted until 1897. In the 1980s, Sanbar Minerals worked on processing the dumps. Of the two mines, Dufton was the more productive, extracting from several veins with mineralization primarily in the form of small flats containing galena, baryte, and aragonite.
