Amalgamation: Porkellis Tin Mine. Incorporating various lodes such as Wheal Cock, North Tymorgie, Horseflesh, South Tymorgie, Wheal Ash, Old Mens (Red Lode), Wheal Foster, Wilkins, Copes, Bennett’s, Dale’s (Moyle’s), Wheal Fat, Ferguson’s, and Pooleys, was a notable mining operation. Also known as Jantar (Cornwall) and Porkellis Tin Mines, it operated intermittently from 1845 until shortly before the outbreak of World War II.
