The mine, known as Boiling Well Mine, historically extracted copper, lead, zinc, and silver. One of its adits was repurposed as a land drain for the former dynamite works and munitions factory. According to the Hayle Historical Assessment, the mine was in operation before 1815, reopened from 1821 to 1856, and finally closed in 1862. It is mentioned in ‘Footloose in Hayle’ that the shafts of Boiling Well Mine can be found on the National Explosives site, indicating its presence. Over its operational periods, Boiling Well produced 3,906 tons of copper ore, 410 tons of lead, and 5,000 ounces of silver. While references to Boiling Well Smelter haven’t been found, there were several smelters in the vicinity
